Tim Horton WIFI - security issues

If they offer security protection they're liable... that's why, and their lawyers, and accountants probably told them that was a bad business decision.

Offering a service "as is" is still better than offering no service at all.

"Tim Horton WIFI service has no protection and in fact are preventing you from protecting yourself .... its free however"

i argue the opposite that if you prevent my ability to protect myself your even worse liability then making it so i have none.

look up what contributory liability is and no matter how you try and word it son its a fact what i said.

its like saying its ok we are gonna sell you a house and dont worry you dont need locks but if ya do were not liable WHO sells houses without locks these days?
and the first person getting hacked there will make news and ill be right here slapping the inability to even bother to protect ones self
as the reason.

its one thing to say look if you use out service you are liable for all potential damage ....its another to prevent me form using all forms a abilities that might protect me.

and your right thats why civil lawsuits happen against bell canada so often and why tim hortons using bell canada might also be an issue for a lot a people in the first place....not you though .....

i do not accept the privacy issues neither and the data gathering , one thing to offer me an incentive to sit around and maybe buy more stuff form ya its another to use a 3rd party i don't trust and sneakily watch where we go on the net ....all it takes is a few bad apples and you got serious issues 4400 stores eh a lot a youth what's the odds.....

shaking my head and under those terms to do what they want there is a lot more you cant do then https and vpn encrypted use.

a ton of stuff is useless.....

so my warning is if you don't care about what your doing , don't care about the risks etc then fine .....but ive warned you of a few issues....

oh and thank a leak of the german police for a nice wireless rootkit floating around....BUT i cant say any more under the new copyright act its forbidden until the copyright holders are informed....nice law isnt it....

It's free... if you don't like it you could always tether your laptop to your cellphone and then get whatever privacy your cellphone provider gives you, if you preferred that.

The policy is pretty clearly laid out, it would be one thing if you were going into this with the expectation of privacy, and then they didn't provide it, but the disclaimer is right there.

The legal and technical issues they face as a public provider are vastly different than those a residential ISP would...

the legal issues are no different they you trying to get insurance on your home if you are sold a home with no door locks and you don't add them... don't expect privacy DONT expect not to get robbed or worse....and by default you can do this privacy and protection what's the issue here is they are deliberately doing the reverse and then saying its your fault if you get hacked, virii or damage to your pc....

you don't seem to get that. it would be like teksavvy tomorrow outlawing all encryption and all vpns and anything but http use and email NON encrypted of course .....there terms also mention that they are in fact wanting to know where and when you go places and that they have the right to give that data to a 3rd party for purposes they see fit.....what are those who knows....
