10. Know Which Hotels and Businesses Always Have Wi-Fi
A lot of businesses these days offer free wi-fi, even big chains like Starbucks and McDonalds. Learn which ones do and remember them. 9. Use a Hotspot Database
If you don't have one of those locations around, though—or if you can't stand the smell of coffee—it's time to turn to a hotspot database like WeFi. They have a huge list of over 100 million Wi-Fi hotspots around the world, including rural areas you might not expect. They've also got apps for iPhone and Android, so you're never without a search engine to find yourself a connection.

As is common for many Canadians, I frequent Tim Horton’s for coffee and meetings. Recently, they’ve started offering free WiFi at many of their locations which is obviously very attractive for business as well as travelers, especially tourists who want to avoid roaming charges on their smartphones.
However, as you can tell by these screenshots, all it takes is for someone to launch a simple tool that essentially says “Who is here?” over the wireless network and everyone’s device reports back.
Tim Horton WIFI - security issues
If they offer security protection they're liable... that's why, and their lawyers, and accountants probably told them that was a bad business decision.
Offering a service "as is" is still better than offering no service at all.
"Tim Horton WIFI service has no protection and in fact are preventing you from protecting yourself .... its free however"
i argue the opposite that if you prevent my ability to protect myself your even worse liability then making it so i have none.
look up what contributory liability is and no matter how you try and word it son its a fact what i said.
its like saying its ok we are gonna sell you a house and dont worry you dont need locks but if ya do were not liable WHO sells houses without locks these days?
and the first person getting hacked there will make news and ill be right here slapping the inability to even bother to protect ones self
as the reason.
its one thing to say look if you use out service you are liable for all potential damage ....its another to prevent me form using all forms a abilities that might protect me.
and your right thats why civil lawsuits happen against bell canada so often and why tim hortons using bell canada might also be an issue for a lot a people in the first place....not you though .....

Starbucks has it, so does McDonalds. Now Canada’s pride and joy Tim Horton’s has it, too. Free wireless. You can now sit with your computer, tablet or smartphone and get yourself free internet – courtesy of Bell. In a press release this morning Timmies states that over 2,000 locations have free Wi-Fi, and the rollout will expand to 90% of Canadian locations by September.

unable to get internet connectivity using Tim Horton's WiFi
I've been unable to get internet connectivity using Tim Horton's WiFi on my MacBook Pro.
I can select the Tim Horton network but when I launch my browser nothing happens.
I've cleared cache and cookies, restarted laptop and a few other things, Not able to get on the Internet no matter what I do., My iPhone -was- able to connect without issue. This is odd isn't it?
I've tried Safari and Chrome to no avail, I am being given an IP address but get no further than that, The Tim Horton's join network page never shows up. Nothing.
This has happened to me at 3 different Tim Horton's.
I use my laptop at -countless- hot spots and have -never- had a connection issue... only at Tim Hortons.
